Films that leave a trace outside the official competition – The World’s Best Film Professor

12th STIFF continues the collaboration with Cinehill festival by presenting an investigative documentary The World’s Best Film Professor, on Saturday 29th at 2PM in Art-kino. This cinematic story centres on Krešimir Mikić, a beloved Zagreb professor of film art who has shaped generations of filmmakers for more than 40 years. When he revealed to his students that he had leukemia, they launched a humanitarian campaign. Where is the line between fiction and reality, truth and lies?

After the screening there will be a Q&A with the director Vida Žagar, where she will explain the process of making this film, challenges in documenting reality, and the role of art in exploring complex life stories.

Vida Žagar (Zagreb, 1999) finished high-school in Varaždin with a diploma of media technician. She then enrolled in  Film, TV and Multimedia design programme at VERN’ University in Zagreb, obtaining her BA with a fiction film “Small Truths” (2021). She enrolled in MA programme Film and TV directing and production at the same university, where she got her Master’s degree with this film. She plans to work in film and TV production, occasionally directing documentaries.
